Ava Keller’s Passing

Ava Keller’s Passing was the peaceful death of Ava Keller in the garden cottage beside Clara Keller-Wu and Sean Wu’s home, years after her husband Jacob Keller died in 2083.

Life After Jacob’s Death

Ava stayed in the Mount Kisco house for approximately another year while she handled paperwork, Jacob’s composition and performance rights, final recordings, archival work, donations, and the belongings she was ready to distribute. Clara, Emily, and Sean joined her for her final night there. Sean carried one of the last sealed bins, labeled “JACOB – KEEP,” and told Ava that Jacob would probably still seem to tap her nose “for a while.”

Ava later moved into a garden cottage beside Clara and Sean’s home. She took the chair Jacob had called “the soft spot,” one of the “Still Jacob” mugs, photographs, music, and Jacob’s sweater with her.

Final Night

Emily visited shortly before sunset and brought Ava spiced tea. Ava declined Emily’s offer to stay overnight, telling her that she had lived a long, full life. After Emily left, Ava went to bed with Jacob’s sweater beside her and the mug on her nightstand.

Ava whispered, “Jacob? Logan? Charlie? I’m ready now,” closed her eyes, and died peacefully during the night. Emily returned in the morning and found her. The family issued a statement after her death describing Ava as a mother, friend, clinician, and Jacob’s anchor rather than reducing her life to professional titles.
